Suriname Flooding: Info on Sending Relief Items

The Surinamers Overseas Foundation (SUROV) in the Netherlands have begun collecting relief items to be airlifted to survivors in Suriname next week via Surinam Air Cargo which is an air freight company that will be sending the aid packs on the 14th of this month (Sunday) and delivering them to affected areas. During the same week, on the 18th, SUROV will be sending out heavy relief equipment such as emmergency shelter -- tents, water purification tablets and the like in another aid consignment by air cargo and will continue aid operations to Suriname unless requested otherwise by their representative office in the country.

SUROV are currently in the process of obtaining a list of aid items which are urgently needed via their representative, Stanley Amian in Paramaribo, who is part of a relief commission that is actively coordinating the reception and proportional distribution of foreign donations and relief goods to where they are most needed. Stanley can be reached via email as well as on the following phone numbers: (597) 450679 / 452317 / 452081

The distribution of aid is taking place alongside ongoing dialogue and consultation with the Surinamese government and local aid workers while officials at Suriname Airways (SLM) & Royal Dutch Airlines (KLM) are working out the details on how they can support these relief operations. In Amsterdam, the bank account# 979777364 has been established by SUROV at the CVB bank and donations can be made in the form of purchasing required relief items.
