Suriname Flooding: Weather Update

Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are said to occur in certain areas of Suriname later tonight according to the Suriname Metrological website & Nicholas Laughlin also sent us a note to say that the ITCZ is now immediately above the flooding areas in Suriname:

The Meteorological Service there have also predicted rainfall measurements - between ten and 20 millimetres - for the Upper Suriname River area that is already flooded due to recent heavy rainfall and between 15 to 30 millimetres for areas in Central and Southern Suriname. Meteorologist Jimmy Samjio expressed surprise at the rainfall that has been measured so far and its effects within the hinterland. He told de Ware Tijd that the rains were as a result of the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), which is now over Suriname, exactly above the flooded areas.
