The area affected by flooding in Suriname is the whole Southern part of the country, more in particularly the districts of Sipaliwini and Brokopondo. Preliminary reports as to the popluation affected is as follows:

Areas most affected: Apomatopo and Lawa with 7,200 severely affected
Boven Suriname - Population: 15,000 - 60% displaced
Boven Saramacca - Population: 1,500 - 35% displaced
Poesoegroenoe and surrounding villages - Population: 525 Displaced population unknown

Kabalebo Populaton: 1,800 - 2% Displaced Area most affected: Wanapan with 36 severely affected
Coeroeni - Population: 1,200 40% Displaced Area most affected: Kwamalasamutu with 480 severely affected
