First Reports on Guatemala Quake Optimistic

There are no reports of major damage or injuries, and there is no danger of a large scale Tsunami in wake of the 6.8 earthquake which shook the Central American countries of Guatemala and El Salvador in the middle of Wednesday afternoon. Phone lines are down in rural areas, however, so preliminary assesments are based on incomplete information. A possibility of smaller, more local Tsunamis still exists in the region, however, and the situation is being monitored.
