20-25,000 in Surinam Have Lost Houses

Elsevier, a Dutch source, is reporting that 20-25,000 people in Surinam have lost their houses after the flooding, and that food parcels are being distributed in the affected areas. At least 70 villages are under water. They further report that assessments have not yet been made, and that it is too soon to know the extent of the flooding.
