Situation Desperate in Irrawaddy Delta
In just three days the price of drinking water in Yangon (Rangoon), Burma (Union of Myanmar) has increased 500% and the price of rice has increased 60%. The Irrawaddy Delta, the rice-basket of this cycylone-affected country, is gravely affected. There are no telephones or electricity and airports--with the exception of Yangon International--are closed. It is estimated that 1,000,000 citizens may be without food, water, and shelter.
